Optimiert dafür, Stürze heil zu überstehen, werden die Geräte außerdem aus fünf Metern Höhe fallen gelassen einmal auf Holzboden, einmal auf Beton und das in 26 verschiedenen Varianten: Auf die sechs Außenflächen, 12 Kanten und acht Ecken. Pro Minute werden 10 Liter Wasser aus allen Richtungen auf das Laptop gespritzt. Eine Art "Super-Schaum" mit hoher Dichte schützt die Festplatte nach Angaben von Panasonic bei solchen Stürzen vor Schäden. Eine Art Rasensprenger testet, ob das Toughbook auch wirklich wasserfest ist. Das Unternehmen sagt, dass es so die Wucht des Aufpralls von 2000G auf weniger als 270G dämpfen kann.
